Using SMP with Access Runtime and running Access 2.0 at the same time
This situation may arise for CED's who are using SPEAKS which runs off Access 2.0
SMP needs Access 2000 to operate. In order to provide this connectability you can use Access Runtime which is downloadable at
Once the runtime has been installed all Access databases will attempt to launch using it. The next time you launch a database that must be run from Access 2.0, such as Speaks, it will ask you to convert the file. DO NOT CONVERT.
Locate the original MSAccess.exe but searching for all msaccess.exe files. You should find two files. The runtime version will be located at c:/program Files/Microsoft Office/Office. The older version of access should be at c:/access. Confirm that this is correct. If it is not , note the location of the older file and substitute it in the following instructions.
Right click on the shortcut you use to access your Speaks system. Select "Properties" and type the following before the first quote mark in the "Target": c:\access\msaccess.exe Leave a space between that preceding phrase and the currently set Target file.

We have now hard coded the the Speaks database to load using the older version of Access
